To the people that have expressed how much they have enjoyed my work:

First I would like to thank all my watchers, the very kind people that selected one of my images as a favourites and anyone that has taken the time to comment on my work.

I really appreciate you taking the time to view my gallery, and have learned a lot in a short amount of time with the help of your feedback.

Currently I work about 13 hours a day, 5 days a week outside of my photography and other artist expressions, so please accept my apology for not always being able to thank you when you have added one of my images to your favourites or when you have taken the time to write a comment.

I try to answer all questions that appear in the comments section of my artwork.



About my new camera...

I bought a Canon 30D from Ritz Camera. [link] I thought this camera would be out of my price range, but it had a huge price drop after the release of the Canon 40D and it fell below the price of the Rebel and way below the price of the Nikon.

I also bought the extended warranty for one year. If I had read the contract for the Ritz Camera warranty, I would have bought the 3 year plan. It covers me breaking the Canon, even by dropping it or getting caught in the rain. The plan can be renewed in one year and I am planning on renewing it.

The Canon came with a 28mm-135mm Canon EF lens. The Canon sensor is smaller than 35mm film, so the lens really acts like a 45mm-215mm lens.

1.6 x 28mm = 44.8mm
1.6 x 135mm = 216mm

The next thing I did was to order an Minolta MD lens to Canon EOS EF body mount adapter from GoShot Camera. [link] Minolta MD lenses loose their normal range and their ability to focus to infinity when I use them with this adapter on the Canon; however, they become the most amazing macro lenses I have ever used. You will see some examples soon!

Next I found a F1.8 50mm OM Olympus lens at the Thrift for AIDS for $5 [link] and ordered an Olympus OM Lens to Canon EOS EF Camera Body Adapter from GoShot Camera. [link] This adapter allows focus to infinity; however, the sensor size is a little smaller than 35mm film the lens acts like a 80mm lens.

I have never had a lens with an F-stop this low and it is amazing. I can take pictures in poorly lighted rooms or at dusk with no tripod and no flash at 400 ISO. It is also very good for taking shots while in motion. Anything beyond about 15 feet is infinity on this lens and I am impressed by how clear and really in focus objects 15 feet infinity are using this lens at F1.8.

I am going to take side by side pictures using this lens and the 28mm-135mm Canon EF lens. I bet this lens kicks it butt, but we will all see.

Some personal stuff...

I used to take black and white photographs with a Minolta X-370. [link] It was my father's camera and he allowed me to use it when I was 18. I was shocked when he allowed this, as I was not allowed to touch it before I asked to use it for a photography class. He gave this camera to me last week and it means a lot to me. This is the camera he used when I was a child and it reminds me of him and all of our family vacations and holidays.

In case you were wondering, I failed that photography course.
